Re: Holiday Cheers

I hope you all had happy holidays and I hope the new year finds all of you happy, healthy, and comfortable. Linda! I'm glad to know you're okay. I just left a message on your phone. Don't mind me. To Vaughn, Marcel, and Cheryl, I hope you are all out of harm's way. Tracy told me he's clear of the fi...

Re: Imagination (children's poem)

Trevor, I think this is a good poem for kids. It's easy to understand and to the point. Although it's important for writers of any age to know that poems don't have to rhyme, most kids love to rhyme words. It's a good tool for building vocabulary. Rhyming also helps children and adults remember. It'...

Re: Any turn of a stone

Hi, Colm. I read and re-read and will come back to it again. Although the consensus is to do away with S1, I must say, I rather like the idea of the symmetry of nature . It conjures lots of images. The words, "symmetry" with "nature" on L1 are what reeled me in but I'm a nature freak and a freak of ...

Re: Wealth

Matty, I like this. "A beetle black night of worry" and "the poverty of snow" are both beautifully descriptive in a unique sense. Double points on both. On the third read, it was a little humorous to me, although I can see it is not from your point of view. I would LOVE some snow but I don't have to...

Re: Q&A

Thank you, Marc, Tracy, and Mark.

I saw Gyppo's post at TBWF and suddenly remembered I hadn't been here in a while. It's good to be back and I'm grateful to those of you who keep it, this, us together.

Re: Flour and Butter

Linda, your poem brings back so many memories. One of my sons wants me to get rid of that old, cast iron skillet of mine, passed down through the ages. As if! Are you going to publish a butter book of poems and photographs? You have a unique perspective on the entire butter thing. I think it would s...

Re: A Gull Lost In Rain

I wrote things. Now they are gone. But I'm an amateur poet so nothing useful was lost.

There is a lot to take in and my mind is playing manic metaphors, so I'll have to return to read when I can focus better.

I will say, the last stanza is worded so that the final spiral ends profoundly.

Re: Advice to My Widow Following My Fatal Kayak Accident

Thank you for the warm welcome back, Tracy. IMO what would be interesting would be a second chapter concerning the wife's reaction to this rather extraordinary wish list and the surprise bag. A poem that opens up many possibilities. Dave   That's a great idea, Dave. The same story from a few angles....

Re: My Angel

Can poetry be in the eye of the beholder? Indar, I think we all see things in different frames of mind and I almost commented about the fact that only a mother would say, "Ew" to the visual of the "dance" of giving birth. I can see how a father can see a woman giving birth as a dance but as a ...

Re: Greetings

Hi Luke, Welcome and congratulations. Toddlers to third graders are my favorite ages. From newborns to right before they start school, they are 100% themselves, think you hung the moon, and are made up of you and the people they interact with daily. Plus, the younger they are, the fewer filters. ;) ...
