Re: Weather
The edited version brings a bit of Wallace Stevens to mind (Thirteen Ways...) and a word like 'precariously' is even hard to say aloud so streamlining to a more natural setting without all the commentary is good.

Heard From a Porch
The sound of trains
coupling from the yard
hammers a rhythm
in my blood
not about humans
or God
but about a revolution
or a medley of steel stars
coupling from the yard
hammers a rhythm
in my blood
not about humans
or God
but about a revolution
or a medley of steel stars

4/28 poem
All around her
are petal-less flowers,
frozen puddles,
a sunless morning
She alone hears birds,
the knockings on her door

frozen puddles,
a sunless morning
She alone hears birds,
the knockings on her door

4/21 poem
One Week Later
A cave opens
in a hillside
Another man
appears
holding a dried palm
branch
He is
weeping

I am falling behind--overwhelmed. Please know that I spent many hours after NaPo was over last year reading and savoring the poetry, comments and camaraderie. I hope that everyone continues to revisit the archives for further comments--I will. I'm not certain how much I will be able to participate ...

4/18 poem When It's Cold Any city street is a portrait in itself— a woman with beads in her veins, children begging for insults. In any given cafe, a waitress with raspberry eyes might stare perceptively or examine emphatically; and they are sad, after all. On these types of mornings, I ask myself w...

End Game
Remember,
once you were good
for nothing—
now every day seems
to be all of them.

Poem 4/16
Paschal
I dream of storm clouds,
gathering dark beyond sin,
and a man—
I hear him
breathing.
