Hey Stranger

Yo, I have been so AWOL from TTB that it has become personally embarrassing.  It has been some summer, and my schedule [my life] has been so packed.  As the waves I've been riding are now subsiding, I find myself asking where poetry currently fits in my life.  I intend to explore that and come to so...

Re: Thanks but no thanks

Feeling like a colonial here.  I got none of the references, context, or even a scooby as to what this is about.  Glad Colm is here to talk to you.

Re: Amaze

Dave, What a wonderful writing.  I also hung up at S.4, but for perhaps different reasons.  It unexpectedly departs from the engaging form of the first three stanzas.  A simple change you may not like would be to substitute for S.4 L.2 these words: "as they are wont to do". Re: Mother

Kate, You have my sincere condolences for your loss.  We spend a lifetime preparing to say good bye, and it is still not easy.  Your poem is breathtaking.  You are still quite possessed of a poet's eye, as evidenced by the wonderful details woven through your work, and the tempered emotions a reader...

Re: Non-verbal

I knew I was in huge trouble when my father tilted his head forward and looked at me with one eyebrow up. My gift has been to wiggle my ears which also slides my scalp back and forth, a talent which incited disruptive laughter in elementary classes and caused my father to tilt his head forward and l...

Re: Distant Hills

Marc - not be argumentative, but NaPo induces you to write.  Love your Youtube "We Will Win" - hope you don't mind I posted the link.

Re: Something

A strong ritual feel to this, perhaps even . . religious.  The give and take, question / response also has a hypnotic effect.  Child/parent,  servant /master --- penitent / pastor.
Well grounded.

Re: Love

Just an old fashioned f-ing romantic at heart, aren't you, Colm?  :D

Your poem effectively makes the counter argument without becoming preachy or didactic.

You seem to find the right voice to raise these matters.
