Re: Bodies

Dave, your poetry is always thought-provoking. My thick skull took a bit to put the pieces together on this. Once I got it, I liked it. S3 L4 and L5 are brilliant in my humble opinion.

Thanks for making my brain work on something dripping with imagery.

Re: Spectacle of Death

Thanks for commenting, Colm. I don't know what got into me. While I understand the need for closure the whole funeral business leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Re: The Scrinch

Thank you, Matty, AJ, and Tracy, for reading and for your kind comments. It's truth be told in rhyme.  ;)

My husband is a loveable Scrinch.

Hope everyone had Happy Holidays.

Re: Holiday Woe

Nice, AJ.

You may have written the next Christmas hit. I'm filled with the same sort of longing for nostalgia during the Holidays. When do we get to hear it put to music?

Re:  Down the San Miguel River

Tracy, I love the vivid imagery here as you weave it into the lore of the land. I see the light glint from the waters, can smell the fresh air, and hear the waters rushing.

I'll return to this to read again.

Spectacle of Death

Spectacle of Death Tempt fate for one second no sins rectified after tragedy happens, first of kin notified.   Time’s cadence quickens as it almost stands still. Your own body thickens with the emptiest chill.   Plans in the making you must have an obit to put into record  - prove this death is leg...

Re: When the last ship sails

Colm, I've read through this several times and each time another layer is revealed to me. This is a timely read as I'm helping a friend write a eulogy tomorrow for her 20-year-old son who was killed on his Harley a week ago Sunday. He's the same age as our youngest and spent many summers at our hous...

Re: Wind in my eyes.

That's a poignantly moving piece you've written, Gyppo. I'm deeply sorry about the loss of your son. I had no idea. I think the loss of one of our boys would do me in - but life, for some of us, goes on.

The Scrinch

Scrinch   He doesn’t like parties, dancing, or feasts. And the pressure to give makes him feel fleeced. His disdain for Christmas with all the gift giving goes against his grain, while he ekes out a living. He pays taxes, insurance, high rent, and fat bills. He does all the work but gets none of th...
