Thanks for the response to my not-really-a-poem Tracy. BTW there might be some speculative science involved but it's way far out there. What do we know anyway?
I'm second day post op and can't believe the difference it already makes to have both eyes operating again.

It's All an Analogy
Response to link sent by Doc Con on my NaPo thread (thank you): https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/apr/15/scientist-stefano-mancuso-you-can-anaesthetise-all-plants-this-is-extremely-fascinating-tree-stories Everywhere there is gravity waiting for mass. Re: Winter Comfort
Thank you all for too-kind comments and great suggestions. Dave, as to your questioning of why it is necessary to close the curtains before the triple dip--there is the matter of neighborhood potluck birthday parties and such. Of course in that case I would NEVER! Here it is, with all suggestions in...

Winter Comfort
Six o'clock and dark out, soup in the pot--steams windows, smoked turkey, black-eyed pea cooks down thick. Time to taste. Close bistro stripes kitchen curtains so neighbors can't see in. Dip the spoon and blow. Yum. Perhaps more salt, dip the spoon again, and again. Why not? boiling salty broth ster...

Re: Magic Fruit
My mother was terrified of snakes and schooled me from an early age in the reasons "all women fear and hate snakes". Guilt for what we did in the garden of Eden. Yep, I picked up garter snakes by a nearby lake. It's a twist on the strange religious practice by a certain Christian evangelical religio...

Re: A Story and a Half
Pigtails! Played this over the Harmon's garage roof. Story and a half might have been out of our league. What fun! I need good memories from what seemed simpler times just now.

Re: PVC
Between the layers of double glazing,
my boyish mind imagined
an insect trapped for eternity
What a good write! I had replacement windows much as you describe installed over a year ago. One of the sales pitches was that the glass filters out UV rays and whatever. My plants died.

Re: swing
swings it back
and forth, from the moon behind her
to the trees tilted towards the shore,
Love this image as well as the later one "feet to the stars". I agree with Gyppo, there is a dreamlike quality to this. I didn't even get motion sickness thinking about it!

Re: Pigeons
Like Dave I loved the image of your punk pigeons. I actually like city pigeons for the subtle iridescent colors and ability to adapt.

Re: Reference
When Dad left the Royal Navy he discarded most of his stuff. His uniform symbolically shed, thrown from a train window. So many situations in life call for some form of ritual or symbol to mark their importance. The other need we seem to have is for evidence, written or remarked in some way we can ...
