Re: Matrix

Thanks Dave for the read and comments, I know I have read somewhere that questions posed in poetry never works well---why not? Isn't that what we spend a lot of our time doing: asking questions? Is Blake too outdated? Who framed thy fearful symmetry? Did he who made the lamb make thee? Outdated ques...

Re: Isle of Pines

Thanks Dave--I may have tweaked it a bit after I first posted it. When does a writer no longer have to depend on the comments of fellow writers in order to get it right the first time (rhetorical)? :D :D

Re: If You Die Alone, Someone will Write You a Poem and Read It at Your Funeral

Okay. Thanks, Dave. Since you have no real idea (not that you're supposed to), maybe I'll just dump the line. What a peculiar statement. I can't speak for Dave but I think you refer to his observation that the line he thought was meant to be a transition didn't work for him in uniting two halves of...

Re: Matrix

Of course the planet continues to change--tectonic plates (of which I am only too aware here in CA), weather patterns and so forth are evidence we can experience. I was going for where things are at this particular time--experiential vs intellectual. But now that I think about it, bringing up the hi...

Re: Songs - the other poetry

Well, isn't this fun. I listened to Children of the Universe on Friday and have been thinking about the part protest songs have played at intense moments in our history. Your style and voice brings to mind the likes of Woody Guthrie or Pete Seeger. They made a difference. Its harder now, I think, to...

Re: If You Die Alone, Someone will Write You a Poem and Read It at Your Funeral

Tim, to my read this poem addresses a range of deeply human issues. first and foremost, we die alone. All the loving members of the bedside death watch, the myths of "beautiful death" the religious beliefs, psychological studies of "the experience" can't erase that awful truth. Your writing starts w...

Re: starving the breath

Photos are funny aren't they?

Yes. Maybe they are what really separates us from other species in the animal kingdom.

Matrix

Matrix Before the cauldron at the center settled down, content to build mountains, islands, before continents sorted themselves out  on the spinning surface, before floors of seas never seen turned to stone, how did crystals, raindrops and most things wet decide to harden, freeze, grow six-sided, wh...
