Paradise

Paradise Every road we tried, we were turned back: they were all blocked with burning cars. We saw deer and other animals on fire--that was hard. I started to think we weren't going to make it out Jackie, Paradise fire survivor Santana, devil wind blows against nature: from the east, heated off sal...

Re: That Celestial Wink

The hell w/content...let's talk about split fricking infinitives. REALLY??? Have you ever read my comments for their content? I usually try to review with content at the forefront of what I say. It was the content of AT's comment re issues in writing, not his declaration re Yanks, to which I was re...

Re: That Celestial Wink

Archie wrote: Does that American 'style guide' also encourage splicing infinitives, using than and then interchangeably, and using relative pronouns as conjunctions? How about using apostrophes for acronyms that are plural? Americans are the worst. Holy Cow! A substantive comment on writing. I woul...

Re: My son got engaged

Yet another discussion supposedly about the content of a poem has devolved into a pissing contest, this time about whose parents were married longest and how we should view marriage . I don't have the equipment boys.

Re: Elegy

I read this as a reflection on a casting of someone's ashes on the sea. My father requested such a "burial". This poem taps into the strangeness of the very thoughts I had of his "ashes" (some of which blew back into our faces in a wind gust as we emptied the cardboard box supplied by the Veteran's ...

Re: My son got engaged

My parents probably hold a record for number of marriages (on TTB)--6 between them. 7 if you count their divorce and remarriage to each other.

Re: My son got engaged

AHA makes more sense but now I'm hung up on that word as applied to partnering. I think of "generic" more as the store brand of laundry soap. I will get around to the rest of the poem which I like very much for its content but also for the speculation it raises about the process of adapting to a new...

Re: Star Light Years

As I said on Tim's star poem this was my first entrance into poetry in 2009 as a post on My Writer's Circle". His reminded me of the crazy idea that if we could go to some star and look back on earth through an impossibly strong telescope we could see the dinosaurs  :o :o

Re: That Celestial Wink

The very first time I posted a poem was on MWC in 2008. Thus began my endeavor as a writer of poetry. I reposted "Star Light Years" now because I was so reminded of one theme here---the amount of time it takes starlight to reach earth. I love the different theme here re memory. I researched "religio...

Star Light Years

Star Light Years From the start, stars have sent home movies. If we could put on special glasses with different color lenses we would see, in light projected, star children as they were in their old back yards. Here on Earth, trees record the history of our local star on the screen of their green le...
