Ok - guess it's a love song this time..........

A Summer's Morn

She takes my hand
   as only she can.
Her touch so warm
   like a summer's morn.

There by my side
   she becomes my guide.
I close my eyes
   the outside world dies.

     She keeps me safe
     helps me stay strong.
My life's becoming a Love Song.

She dries my tears
   laughs at my jokes.
She knows my fears
   fills me with hope.

     She keeps me safe
     helps me stay strong.
Wrapping me in a Love Song.

Uses words that soothe
   calms me with her truth.
She's always there
   keeps me in her care.

     She keeps me safe
     helps me stay strong
     I'm living a Love Song.

She takes my hand
   as only she can.
Her touch so warm
   like a summer's morn.

AJ,

Thank you for sharing this. The song, the words, your voice all lovely. Truly sweet.

I have a steel string Gibson and a little Italian classical guitar. I broke a string, didn't have a spare, and somewhere along the line, I've let it drift out of my life. Haven't picked up either in years and I love the sound of a guitar - it's like a scent on my ears.

I truly appreciate homegrown music.

Thank goodness for modern technological guitar tuners or I would have never get mine tuned. I only know one chord and accidentally play by ear, badly, and I used to teach music as a consultant to elementary school kids. Ha! Hey, they had the money and faith in me so I ran with it. For someone who had only taken one guitar class at adult community college,  I did some great things in my role as an elementary music teacher in the six, short months I had the gig.

Cheers!

Hi Deb - glad you got an opportunity to listen to the song and wrap yourself up in it.  Glad you liked it.

Guitar is a very lovely instrument.  So much fun to learn to play.  You should pick it up again and teach yourself what you taught those elementary school kids.  I love your description "like a scent to my ears" !!!!!!!!

I also have learned without formal training, mostly by ear, mostly by looking up chords for tunes I know and having fun playing them.  And then tunes come to me so I write rudimentary music, which then leads me to write lyrics.  Most of my songs are sparked by the music, but not always - sometimes the lyrics brings on the music.

Anyway, I have a lot of fun with it.  The process of recording is daunting, well, for me, anyway.  Too many things to monitor while recording, so some of the spontaneity disappears.  But this kitchen table recording thing is kinda neat.

I've got lots of other recordings, some on websites, but many are not on any website so I can't post them here.  If you like you could send me a "private message" (top right on this forum) with your email and I could send you some MP3's.

NaPo was a blast - it was tiring, sometimes trying, but we all wrote a lot and all got to read a lot.  Some amazing poetry was posted, and some of yours was just splendid.  Keep writing, if for no other reason than it's good for the soul.

Be well, Deb

Aj
