I read this as a reflection on a casting of someone's ashes on the sea. My father requested such a "burial". This poem taps into the strangeness of the very thoughts I had of his "ashes" (some of which blew back into our faces in a wind gust as we emptied the cardboard box supplied by the Veteran's association over the back of the boat) sifting down through the depths. Beautiful writing.

Late again here, but I keep returning to that image...even the moon is using its gravity to pull him back!
