I'm just ticking

Post by Colm Roe » Wed Nov 04, 2020 7:59 pm

My feet hold me,
connect me to a surface.

I walk like a clock.
Contact, escape, contact, escape;
in predetermined perambulation.

Occasional leaps,
fear or celebration.

Moments that suggest
I'm not just a clock
ticking
down.

Hi Colm
I like this. It has a pleasant flow and a gentle pace.

Beautifully crafted.
Puts me in a pensive mood.

Very rarely are any of us just ticking down, even if it feels like that sometimes.

I really liked the 'predetermined perambulation'.

I walk like a clock.

"k" repetition picks up on the ticking of time---nice. Also nice reflection on those moments when rote motion is interrupted by some awareness--"being present to the moment" is the catch phrase I believe. And so life goes. Enjoyed.

Gyppo, some people have been told they have wonky 'clocks' that could break before the guarantee runs out; I'd have thought they would get a sense of ticking down?
Linda, you often spot wonderful aspects I'm never sure I intended :D And educate me...'rote' is a word I wasn't familiar with. The essence of it I was though after a scuba diving incident I probably mentioned before. Before it happened I was never really aware of breathing, it happened without thinking about it; I'm too aware of it now, and feel for all those Covid patients who struggle to breathe.

I walk like a clock.
Contact, escape, contact, escape;
in predetermined perambulation.

That's the best part by far, I think. I can see the Contact, escape.... as a line for the times, but also quite OCD and anxiety ridden.
