in regular pulses.
The urgency and violence
that often pounded life,
like the forging
of great, steel spikes
anchoring him to this place,
no longer required.
A specimen
nailed to a board.
No long journey now, just
enough to park
exit the car and leave.
His passengers
watch the falls, cling
to every rise.
Soon to compromise,
and settle
for risen.
