Moon Landing (a repost in honor of today's Mars Landing)
Moon Landing (a repost in honor of today's Mars Landing)
When the advanced race
of Ribbed Ameoba landed
on the moon,
they globbed aghast
at irrefutable evidence:
there in ancient moondust
the bodily imprint
of a Ribbed Ameoba child
that predated by millenia
the scientific consensus
they had evolved
only after the great extinction
of the first wave of life.

Excellent Linda. Gives a perspective on some creation myths

Good to see it again, Indar
I remember our little shop girl coming into work that day, looking and moving like a zombie because she'd stayed up all night to see those flickering grainy images on a black and white TV. They sent her home at lunchtime because she was so 'spaced out'.
I asked her later if it was worth it.
"There's only one first moon landing." But she showed no interest in any other space exploits.

I've been writing ever since I realised I could. Storytelling since I started talking. Poetry however comes and goes

Nicely done and with a sinister underlay.

Very interesting, and I think it works well, Indar, but only in conjunction with teh image. If you ever decide to present the poem without the image, I think some description of the footprint (making it explicit that the footprint resemble the ribbed amoeba) would eb needed. Nicely sinister, as Mark said.

Thank you all, Phil, Gyppo, Mark and Trevor, for the read and comments.
This is one of those writes that is only good on the occasion it is written for (I think I did this for a landmark anniversay of the first moon landing)----until an even better occasion comes along, like searching for ancient life on Mars
