Evening Plans

Post by indar » Sat Mar 06, 2021 5:22 pm

Clouds hit the mountain range
east of here, heave up
until, I swear, Mt. Palomar
looks like the ghost
of Kilimanjaro.

There's a big telescope up there,
Palomar I mean, operated by scientists.
Do they ever look down here
when rain sweeps toward them
off the Pacific ocean
knowing their altitude
will turn rain to snow
and soon they will shine in our sun rise?

Maybe some day
I will cut a hole in my bedroom ceiling
so I can lay face up
on my new purple duvet
and plot my course.

Love that fanciful notion Linda.  Do you need new?

Not sure why you mention Kilimanjaro? It seemed to me that it was the scientists and their telescope that were the prompt for the action in S3?

Thanks Plil,

I probably don't need "new". I'm not certain why I do need "Kilimanjaro" maybe because Palomar mountain is a negligible feature on the eastern horizon until some big weather change: clouds/snow makes it stand out. You, the reader, don't know that of course but isn't that OK?

Thanks for the read and comments, glad you like the idea of ceiling alteration.
