Labyrinth

His passage, labyrinthine.
Damaged vessels usher it slow.
Internal walls decorated,
minute layers
of bloody red calcium
in ever harder restrictions.

There was a time, when
chalk was dry.
White on black,
a teacher's instruction
vaguely distracting;
the world was outside
and limitless.

Time retreated, his maze
localised, meanders
in serpentine recoils,
winding new lessons
he's forced to accept.

Nicely done Colm. I'm a tad squeamish, but that's reality. I recognise the classroom experience...the chalk. And yes, experience outside the classroom can deflate ambitions.
