Emma

Post by Gyppo » Tue Mar 21, 2023 7:42 am

One of those daily snippets I see from my window.

=====

Emma

Every morning she sees her man off,
even when it's cold, and dark,
with rain hissing into their porch.

He, dressed for his outdoor job,
resting his tools on the parcel-drop box
as he pulls on his boots.

She, barefoot in nightie or dressing gown,
as they lean in to each other and kiss,
before she fixes breakfast for the kids.

She doesn't stand and watch him leave,
and I can see his mental gear change,
from lover to worker as he unlocks his van.

This really gets to the heart of the matter, so to say.  :)

Love this, Gyppo.

Another completely relatable and beautifully told story.

They're not predictable to the minute so I don't see the doorstep ritual every day, but when I do it always makes me smile.

An observational tale of real people. Engaging and human.
