Hey binx, sounds like they found the wrong tomb :o
Interesting read.

Call me, George, Colin. And, no, it wasn't.

Glad to see a few hardy souls marching on keeping up the good work and Poems.

This is my 21, yesterday wrote 19 but meant 20, of course. Still a day behind.

A man afloat on the swell

whose gentle collapses

appear to ease him shoreward;

in reality distant forces

drag him out and beyond

his imagination. I think

to call to him but say nothing,

as he shrinks into a fish.

So much wonderful poetry, still gong strong into day 22.

Gyppo - Judas... forgiveness for all, except for him, it would seem..........

Indar - "Giver of the Bath" - touching reflection, visual outpouring... comforting thoughts continue to fly to you.

Dave -  "hands will raise doubt above earthly voices" - oh yes indeed
"gentle collapses"... life in a nutshell
           Both great writes.

Colm - "drinking life's soup with a fork" - so well put, cannot be better said.

...and to you all - amazing writing !!!

written yesterday as a gift for my granddaughter's birthday...

Day 22

On Brooke's 18th

And it came to pass
that the young are born
and the old get older

life in between is filled and fast.

The best years, those-
live     learn     love
wrapped in much invincibility
immortality
tempered by touches of insecurity
fragility.

When times are easy and bright
when times are tough and dark
in all times
your family is always here
always arms opened wide
welcoming you inside
no judgments
only unconditional love.

And someday if the stars align
you'll have children of your own.

But for now
today here's my wish
my admonition
my counsel
for you
Pépère's sweet girl:

Follow your Heart
Listen closely
It will never lead you astray

Journey hand in hand with your Muse

You are an artist
And your life a canvas
Use your paints and brushes
Color outside the lines

There are no limits
But the limitations
You place on yourself

Spread your wings and fly

Soar!

And it came to pass

Good morning to you all. I am so glad Tracy invited me to the table. There are feasts of food and wine herein. I am exalted.

Day 22

The Man in Room 2B

I lament for the loss of my youth--
for the ripple of taut skin
over tight muscles
that answered to my will with ease and grace.

I thrilled to the pull of elastic hamstrings
that spurred me on in every race--
winning or losing of little consequence
because it was all about muscle, bone, and skin.

I reveled in my sure-fingered grip
as I fingered my way up mountains,
as arm-over-arm
I swam swift, chilling currents.

I remember the taste of freedom
of movement, of triumph in
being young and subtle and strong
as I chopped piles of wood to feed the fire.

I lament the loss of my youth, yes,
but memories are long.
Yes, you should have seen me then.
You look at me now, and I know I'm not much,

and I know what you're thinking;
I see it in your eyes,
but, really, you should have seen me--
running, and climbing, swiming and diving.

You really should have seen me.
You really should have seen me.

AJ, you provided the trigger line/image for this one.  I had nothing in mind, and then...

=====

NAPO 22 - 2019

Penumbra

Colouring outside the lines
offers an open season for adventurers.

Colouring right up to the lines,
and maybe peering over the edge
in wonder at what lies beyond,
is the province of dreamers.

But there is a smaller group,
who colour almost to the line
but leave a thin penumbra,
a shadow-land of possibility
between the hard-edged duality.

This is the home of the Mystic,
the Philosopher, the Shaman,
and the Cunning Man,
all offering a conduit
to a third choice.

Gyppo
I've been writing ever since I realised I could.  Storytelling since I started talking.  Poetry however comes and goes  ;-)

Gyppo - fun thing, inspiration.  Nice the way you took the phrase and re-invented it.

Vaughn - a wonderful job at describing aging and the almost end product.  My favorite summation: the older I get, the faster I was.
