Think less; pray more.
Never argue with those who don’t understand,
because why?
Laugh more; cry less.
Remind yourself to remember.
Take the risk; it might be your last chance.
When no one is watching,
go ahead and dance.
Always buy the good coffee,
good wine, fresh flowers, best chocolate,
and anything your mother ever said
you couldn’t afford.
Let people mock Kansas,
hope they’re always flying over
and never come to visit.
Make a fool of yourself now and then,
but only when it’s worth it.
Plant trees even when you know
you won’t be around
to sit in their shade.
Tell your mind to ‘hush,’
and listen to your heart.
Write the poems
you fear no one else will like,
because you might be wrong,
and even if you aren’t,
it’s okay.
Don’t try so hard.
Shred your bank statements;
save your old love letters.
Let the wind comb your hair.
Notice the little things.
Keep your heart on your sleeve,
it’s happiest there.
Love people,
even when you don’t.
