Modesty
Townie girls saunter forth to the river
For to see the young men, all a shiver.
The beaus were so bold,
In waters so cold,
That each arrow did hid in its quiver.

I wrote a limerick once in high school English class 1958. I have it memorized--
There once was a man named O'Tool
who, for a living, wound thread on a spool
he got tangled one day,
to his Boss' dismay
now they call him the old spinning fool.
(had I written anything like Lecram's it would have meant expulsion requiring a note from home followed by two weeks 7th hour detention.
Had I thought of anything like Lecram's I am not certain I could have resisted)

Indar - I love that, as well as Marcel's newest vintage.
Cheers to you lovely limerick penners.

He frenziedly reached for my hand
as he sank in the treacherous sand
appealing to me
with a desperate plea
forgetting I owed him ten grand.

The troubadour turning to go
sang a jovial Hey Nonny No.
As he doffed his belled cap
he was felled by a chap
with an axe – who had hated the show.

There was a young man called Pawel
who loved a old woman called Belle,
on their first night of lust
he examined her rust
and thought no thanks, it needs too much gel.
