Re: Id

On first read I'm picking up references to specific characters such as Wiley Coyote who orders various devices from the Acme company all of which backfire on him. The pipe --popeye? I'm guessing this is about international political figures and the ridiculous games they play and I can think of one b...

Re: Buena Vista

Oh and I meant to say Phil, the original title is a line from a Yeats poem. I changed it because I wasn't certain about using it. I prefer it as well.

Re: Solution

I must say, I'd not thought to compare it to piracy but I suppose that works.  :D

Re: Buena Vista

Thank you both Jackie and Phil, Jackie, seriously: break lights? Well to be fair I do have a tendency to back into posts and such. At least that one is easy to fix. For some reason the walmart bit seems important to the theme of this poem but I think I need to develop it more. The bottom of the cany...

Re: Tying Up the Tomatoes

the rewards of sharing and giving.  Thank you Phil, Sharing and giving seems to be a theme much on my mind lately along with the opposite strong societal tendency (among those I know and interact with) toward zero sum thinking. I might be more aware of it living, as I do, close to the Mexican bord...

Re: Solution

Jolly write Phil,

Usually my head hurts when confronted with anything mathematical but you put a whole new spin on it. So glad a little rum can overcome an obsession with nice, neat formulas, shapes and regulation. And speaking of rum I loved "rum of shanties". Ahoy Matey. :D :D

Re: May Haiku

In summer  the secret of snow lives in salt bins next to my front door.   Violets invade  until May when flowering unmasks them as guests.   The weight of water  holds my bird bath still while perched jays assess the risk. As a former Minnesotan I know about that salt but what a visual to combine s...

Buena Vista

This is one of the NaPo poems originally titled "Midnight's All Aglimmer. One of the few 2021 efforts I think is worth editing and tinkering with. The last 2 stanzas are additional I tore down the board privacy fence and opened up my piece of overlook. All night lights swim through high-density hou...

Re: Leda's Swan Song

I am in the grips of some kind of lethargy. I look at what I've written and it makes me tired. Thank you guys for your comments. I think I'm most engaged in my writing when it's just straight-up plain spoken narrative and attempts to do otherwise just wears me out. I've been gardening. Before long I...

Re: Hug

I looked at that artist's work as well and saw the image you responded to in this write as yet another version of the "Pieta". It's for sure and certain that a mother greiving over the loss of a child will be heart-rending and especially a child lost as a form of sacrifice in war. I don't think any ...
