"Rusty"
I pick up my guitar.
All the songs I've ever played
collide in my brain, in my fingers.
The lyrics, a traffic-jam in my throat.
Like untangling a skein,
I find some words and notes
that go together.
Soon my fingertips whine, remind
they aren't as strong as strings.

Happy poetry month, poem people!
I was invited to come here by my friend, Tracy, who seems to think I can write poetry, but he is actually much better than I am. I have had a couple of poems published in minor little journals. I mostly just appreciate these days.
