Book just published

Post by ajduclos » Sun May 02, 2021 11:54 am

And because I have no shame, none, I will mention here that I have just self-published a book of poems and prose-like rants through Amazon's "KDP" - "Corona'd Up In Maine: a Journal in Verse".  It is supposed to available on all of Amazon's international sites.
I'm actually not interested in the royalties but would just like the story told and my thoughts shared.

Here's a sample:

Comfort Deprived

Funeral in a Walmart parking lot
or by the locked doors of St. Michael's
or in the driveway by the house
maximum ten family and friends
gut-punched air-hugs from six feet
tears vanish behind damp masks
soothing talk muffled and unearthly
only the eyes speak to console
the inconsolable who remain
after father or mother or son or daughter
or mémère or pépère or best friend
leave forever with no hand-held good-bye

oh the sight of heaving shoulders
the sad sounds of sobbing
the only soul wrenching normal
in this soul starved farewell

Be well, one and all.

I am, Colm, thanks.  I hope the book does tell the tale of my 15 months in this Covid reality and my discoveries about life and love.

Hey Dan, and everyone.  The Kindle version of the book should be available by the end of this week.

I just bought it, but I can't download it on my Kindle. I get the message "The item is not compatible with this device." :?

Oh crap !!!!  I will call the Kindle people yet again to see what's up this time.  You'd think this stuff would be fool-proof... but then again, they've not dealt with a un-technical moron like me before
I'll check it out, Dan, and see what the issue might be - maybe there is some tweak needed to work with your version of Kindle....  I'll post here as soon as it is resolved or if I have any information.
Sorry
Aj
p.s. thanks for buying it.

Dan - I called and they directed me to a drop down "Available for these devices" on the page where you can choose to buy it, just below the author's information.  Click on it and see if your device is listed.
Alternatively, just below the box that shows "Kindle E 3.27",  which is highlighted in pink, there is "Read with our free app" you can click on to download the app to your computer, smartphone or tablet.
Let me know what you find.  Again, sorry

It's only available for "Kindle for PC" Not for the cloud reader, and not on my Kindle. I can read it on my PC, of course, but I would have preferred reading it on my kindle, as that's just more convenient. I never read on my phone. I hate reading from such a small screen.

But, the important thing is, I can read it. :)

Dan - that's a shame - so sorry.  I will get back to them (Amazon / Kindle) to see what else I or they might be able to do to let you read it on your Kindle.
So, what is the model/version of Kindle that you have?  Maybe the Kindle folk having that info could better assist, whether from their end or having me do something with eBook formating...........
I have no clue at the moment.
Such a bummer that what should be transparent and user friendly becomes an ordeal.
