Devastating but captures the flavour of quaint Britishness with respect to nuclear devastation. 

I don't find this trailer uniquely British at all. Live TV in the US was unpredictable. Theater productions were aired willy nilly. I remember scare themes re; nuclear attack. One in particular has stuck with me that had to do with the families that had built fallout shelters being attacked by those who had not and the end result was everyone died. There were commercials that touted plans, equipment and food to be bought as a kit for shelters. Really, there was a national obsession about it. I seriously doubted life would survive.
