Have you ever muttered under your breath,
“I wish I had no parents at all”?
Yes, sometimes they’re not right or fair,
and they make you feel so small,
but it’s not an easy job, you know,
being a full-time parent.
It’s tougher than any you can imagine,
like being the American president.
If you had no parents, who’d scramble your eggs?
Who’d wash your clothes and bring you places?
Who’d give you hugs and tell you they love you,
then proceed to tie your laces?
Someday, you might have children
who’ll wear you out with all their demands.
Then, you’ll rub your sleepy eyes,
and you’ll surely understand
that parents aren’t cruel or bad;
they act the way they do
to ensure they get what they want most:
a happy, healthy you.
